Good morning, Pueblo. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 6th of January.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After a Monday Red Flag Warning, local fire departments added extra crews to patrol the Pueblo area for wildfires. Officials say a quick response is key to catching fires early (the brush truck was used on 133 fires last year, down from 174 in 2024).  KOAA
  • A new state law requires new water heaters and furnaces to meet higher-efficiency standards starting in 2026, raising installation costs to about $7K-$10K compared with roughly $5K for older, non-compliant models. Homeowners can still choose grandfathered units if available from local distributors.  KOAA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local emergency rooms are gearing up for a busy flu season as health officials report an early surge in cases statewide despite milder winter temperatures.  KKTV
