COMMUNITY NEWS

  • USA Basketball hosted youth clinics for elementary school students on Tuesday — professional coaches taught the basics at a local site in Pueblo. Meanwhile, local gas prices averaged $2.19 per gallon on Monday — national reports by AAA showed lower prices amid global trends.  KKTV
  • Two Pueblo organizations received grants from the Rose Community Foundation yesterday to reduce gun violence — Juniper Southern Colorado will use its funds for firearm safety and suicide prevention training while Pueblo Child Advocacy Center will support trauma-informed mental health services for children and families across the region.  Pueblo Chieftain

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Colorado Office of Just Transition launched a Business Startup and Expansion Assistance Program to help coal transition workers start and expand businesses in Pueblo County & other designated areas. The program offers a four-week Idea Factory, a six-week Growth Challenge, and up to $11,250 in funding with a mid-April cohort.  Pueblo Chieftain
  • From Tuesday to Wednesday, gas prices statewide rose around 10 cents, with the state average reaching $3.11 while Pueblo gas remained below $3 at $2.97. AAA said seasonal trends and global events may be affecting the prices, though details are unclear.  KKTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CSU Pueblo will launch a nursing program this fall for CSU Fort Collins students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing (a five-year pathway). The program aims to help meet the state's nursing shortage by expanding Pueblo’s unique role in nursing education.  KOAA
