- ➤ Debbie Paraday, a longtime Pueblo resident whose family has trusted Davis Mortuary for over 50 years, arranged her cremation in 2024 and won a small claims case in court this week; she now has 15 days to submit proof to secure her refund + her case continues to move through the legal process. - ➤ Posada, a local housing group, is expected to receive nearly $100,000 from the Community Services Advisory Commission (CSAC) to help pay for rental and utilities assistance for residents. The funding decision will be confirmed by next month. KOAA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ News5 received several photos from local viewers capturing the 2026 total lunar eclipse + featured submissions by Lars Leber Photography, Dawn Lincoln, Kristin, Susan Tjaden and Steve Elisha. The online album invites residents to enjoy these rare images of the celestial event. KOAA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A $31.8 million Technology, Education and Engineering building at CSU Pueblo was unveiled Wednesday to train teachers and engineers for southern Colorado (designed to ease local workforce shortages). University leaders and students celebrated the ribbon-cutting in hopes of retaining local talent. KOAA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Parks and Wildlife said fishing licenses for 2026-27 are available online and at local agents; the season runs March 1 to 31 and raised the Search and Rescue fee from $0.25 to $1.25, added Golden Mussels to the nuisance list, and banned live rusty crayfish transfers from Sanchez Reservoir. - ➤ Vanguard Skin Specialists is expanding its Pueblo site at 5700 N. Elizabeth St with a 9,000 sqft surgery center and specialty suites. Ground was broken on March 4 and the new ambulatory surgery center will soon offer local physicians space for specialized surgeries + it is expected to open in 2027. Pueblo Chieftain
