- ➤ The 24th annual Shamrock Shindig fundraiser is held this weekend—supporting Catholic Charities, which helps local families with food, rent, utilities and counseling during tough times. The event comes as St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on Monday. KOAA
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At 9:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said Highway 94 is open & all evacuations are lifted as the Meridian Fire remains 70 percent contained. KKTV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On March 13, a Pueblo man, 27-year-old Solomon Martinez, was convicted of first-degree murder + abuse of a corpse and tampering with human remains after he was arrested in January 2024 for carrying Renee Portillos' severed hand in his pocket. Pueblo Chieftain
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo County Democrats are calling to end public funds for Sheriff David Lucero’s lawsuit against IBPO Local 837 because they say the suit contradicts the party’s support for workers' rights. The lawsuit has used $45,000 in taxpayer money so far + Lucero is reviewing the party's criticism while the controversy continues. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ Pueblo city council renewed a rule that stealer of $300 or more face a three-day jail sentence and added that repeat offenders who take $100 will also be jailed—police say business theft has dropped by 29%. Pueblo Police also warned residents that card skimming is rising at several local stores. KOAA
- ➤ Lake Pueblo State Park officials announced the North Shore Marina will close on April 1, 2025—demolition is scheduled for July 1, 2025. The marina's manager said plans to update the old docks fell through when state cleanup requirements drove costs too high, leaving boat owners to quickly find new docking options. KOAA
- ➤ Over 1,115 veterans were put at risk when the VA mistakenly sent an email containing sensitive personal data to 75 unintended recipients in January—this error included names, partial Social Security numbers, mailing and email addresses, and phone numbers. The agency is urging affected veterans to remain vigilant and contact them with any concerns. KOAA
