COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Pueblo Library District opened its Seed Library today in partnership with Colorado State University Pueblo Extension office—library card holders can get free seeds for fruits and vegetables and rent garden tools. The program also offers gardening classes that pair participants with a master gardener to help them learn to grow healthy plants. KOAA
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Today at 9:30 a.m., the Pueblo Police Department will close eastbound Hwy 47/Cesar Chavez Blvd at Hwy 50 West near exit 101 — and westbound from Jerry Murphy Rd to I-25 — for a traffic accident investigation. City of Pueblo
- ➤ The Pueblo Police Department said part of Highway 47 at Highway 50 west and westbound from Jerry Murphy Road to I-25 will be closed today at 9:30 a.m. for a crash investigation following a weekend incident in which a man suspected of DUI died in custody. KKTV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo Police is investigating the death of a suspect who was arrested on Saturday, March 29 at 11:28 p.m. after a wrong-way report on I-25 and Highway 50 led to a crash on Dillon Drive and Cesar Chavez Boulevard where witnesses said he sped past a red light, hit a BMW, and forcibly removed a driver from another car, and although he was taken to a hospital for blood samples and medical clearance, he became unresponsive and died (the off-duty deputy and the BMW driver received treatment for minor injuries). - ➤ Pueblo police say that a man detained for suspected DUI after driving wrong-way on I-25 on Saturday and crashing into a white BMW died at a local hospital after blood was drawn—an investigation led by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is underway. KOAA
- ➤ Pueblo police arrested Brandon Zullo, 41, on March 26th for a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian—he claimed he first thought he struck a pole, sign, or deer, later washed his truck to hide evidence, and will appear in court today. Pueblo Chieftain
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new law took effect Monday that makes it easier for undocumented immigrants to get a driver's license by removing requirements like a two-year residency and proof of income tax—driving schools and the DMV report a surge in applications as many have long awaited this change. KOAA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Wastewater data show that fentanyl levels in Pueblo increased in March, rising from 5 milligrams to nearly 14 milligrams per 1,000 people by March 11 (a nearly threefold jump) as recorded by the health department. The Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment warned residents to avoid street drugs (which may contain fentanyl) and to carry naloxone if possible. Pueblo Chieftain
