- ➤ Four notable Pueblo South alumni are being inducted into the school's Hall of Fame today, including a retired music educator — a former mayor — an ex-police officer — and a local business owner recognized for her community service. The induction dinner begins at 6 p.m. at the Pueblo Country Club at 3200 Eighth Ave, with a 5 p.m. social hour and silent auction preview. Pueblo Chieftain
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Pueblo Police Department said on Friday, April 4 that they found a body near West 29th Street and I-25 in northern Pueblo—police have not determined the circumstances or identified the deceased. FOX21
- ➤ A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after a man was found dead on the porch of a home in Hyde Park on April 3, and police said Andrew Martinez is held in Pueblo County jail without bond and will appear in court on April 10. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ Four suspects (one minor included) were arrested by Colorado Springs Police for 39 incidents that included smash and grab burglaries of marijuana dispensaries and thefts from ATMs and other businesses from October through February; investigators recovered marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, stolen vehicles and six firearms while more arrests are expected. - ➤ The headliners for the 2025 Colorado State Fair have been announced with comedy star Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias set to perform on Aug. 24 and rapper Flo Rida scheduled for Aug. 29 at the Southwest Motors Events Center—tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on April 10. FOX21

- ➤ Officials are partnering with Pueblo PD, the Pueblo Fire Department and Colorado State Patrol to offer free car seat safety checks at Pueblo Fire Station #2 at 1800 Eagleridge Blvd. today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — child passenger safety technicians will inspect seats and show caregivers how to install them correctly — with similar events planned monthly across Pueblo. - ➤ Drive Smart Pueblo in partnership with the Pueblo Police Department, Fire Department, and Colorado State Patrol is offering free car seat checks today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pueblo Fire Station #2 at 1800 Eagleridge Boulevard—certified technicians will check seats and provide installation guidance, with additional events on May 3, June 7, July 12, August 2, September 6, and October 4. - ➤ Lake Pueblo State Park kept North Shore Marina open through the 2025 boating season after public need led to a rapid agreement with the O'Neil Group — a reversal of plans to close and demolish the marina on April 1. Manager Joe Stadterman said CPW will work on a long-term plan to replace aging docks and address safety repairs — ensuring a safe docking option for boaters. Pueblo Chieftain
