CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo Police Department said that three vehicles racing after midnight on April 6 led to a crash into a home near South Prairie Avenue in southern Pueblo that caused an engine fire—18-year-old Jaiden Maes was arrested on charges including Vehicular Reckless Assault, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Driving Without a Valid License, and Displaying an Expired Number Plate. - ➤ A woman was arrested on Sunday after her vehicle crashed into a home on Elmwood Circle near Pueblo Boulevard and Hollywood Drive when police conducting a speed enforcement sweep identified the 18-year-old driver, Jaiden Maes, whose car caught fire—officers safely removed both Maes and her passenger and took them for evaluation before Maes was booked at the detention center. - ➤ Chavez Huerta K-12 Preparatory Academy is fighting to stay open after Pueblo School District 60 declined to renew its charter—families, teachers, and parents support the school's appeal as it awaits a hearing on May 15 at the Colorado Department of Education. KOAA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, April 7, the City of Pueblo presented the preliminary findings of an independent study looking into acquiring electric utility assets from Black Hills Energy or forming a new multi-jurisdictional utility.
