The Slab in Pueblo was honored with the Colorado Lottery’s 2026 Starburst Award today for its renovation that upgraded the court with a new post-tension concrete slab, backboards, hoops, benches and LED lighting (showcasing work by four local artists).
The project cost $500,000 and expands safe urban recreation.

On Wednesday, Pueblo Fire Department crews responded to multiple fires on the east side (including a grass fire along Fountain Creek and a structure fire now under control).
