COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Tickets for Colorado State Fair concerts in Pueblo went on sale today — the lineup features Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias on August 24 and Flo Rida on August 29. Early ticket purchases include fair admission while later sales require a separate fee. KOAA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On March 18, two Pueblo police officers were shot in the head during an ambush when suspect Billy Soto fired nearly 80 rounds from an AR-15 before being killed by return fire—another officer remains in hospital and will be released on April 12. Pueblo Chieftain
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rep. Jeff Hurd from Colorado's 3rd district introduced the Trade Review Act of 2025 on April 7 to require the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of any proposed tariff and to limit tariffs to 60 days — the measure allows Congress to end tariffs early — and he said the act protects American jobs and manufacturing. - ➤ The Colorado FAIR Plan launched on Thursday as a safety net for homeowners dropped by their insurers in high-risk fire, hail, and wind areas—homeowners must be denied coverage three times before they can apply through an agent, and a commercial option will come later in the spring. KOAA
- ➤ The federally funded Low-Income Energy Assistance Program is taking applications until April 30 — households with incomes up to 60% of the state median can get help with heating bills and fixing or replacing heating equipment. KOAA
- ➤ The Colorado Department of the Treasury is mailing $8 million in unclaimed property to 12,000 people and checks will arrive in the next few weeks to be cashed immediately—state Treasurer Dave Young said some claims are large. Since the program began in 1987, the department has returned $765 million including nearly $78 million last year. KOAA
- ➤ City officials said they will improve trail heads and systems to move the city closer to finishing the Austin Bluffs Master Plan from 2018—more work is planned to support better outdoor access. KKTV

- ➤ The City of Pueblo is working to fix up more than 230 abandoned homes to create up to 300 affordable housing units rather than tearing them all down. The housing department will partner with nonprofits and companies — homes beyond repair will be safely demolished so new structures can be built later. KOAA
