BUSINESS NEWS

  • On April 17, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 filed a lawsuit against King Soopers for allegedly violating a strike-ending agreement from an 11-day strike in February. The union said King Soopers — along with City Market — dismissed its proposals by setting an ultimatum expiring in April and urged them to negotiate in good faith.  Pueblo Chieftain

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Pueblo Film Festival will run from April 24th to 27th at three local venues (Blo Back Gallery, El Pueblo Museum and Pueblo Memorial Hall) to honor filmmakers with ‘Steely’ trophies in seven categories; the event features 65 film entries selected from 120 submissions from Colorado and around the world. Andrea Naglich and Jeff Madeen said last year’s festival exceeded expectations by drawing more than 300 attendees.  FOX21

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Colorado Department of Transportation will host a community open house on Thursday, April 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Pueblo Academy of Arts (29 Lehigh Ave) to present details on the Highway 45 and Pueblo Boulevard Safety Improvements Project, which will focus on the areas from Palmer Avenue to Avis Avenue and from Vinewood Lane to Goodnight Avenue.  KOAA

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nearly 300 boxers from 18 countries competed at the USA Boxing International Open at the Pueblo Convention Center last week, battling in two rings across youth, junior, and elite divisions. Boxer Marley McNealy won the women’s youth division for the twentieth time on April 19th—she said her win and meeting her role model have strengthened her dream to qualify for the Olympics.  FOX21
