  • The CSU Pueblo Foundation announced honorees for its President’s Gala to be held on May 9 — the event will honor community leaders, educators and alumni for their contributions to local education and community service.  Pueblo Chieftain

  • Portico Energy Inc. proposes an advanced manufacturing facility in Pueblo that uses pyrolysis to convert plastic waste into petroleum products and create 100 jobs with wages around $60,000 to $70,000; Pueblo City Council reviews a funding request for $4 million in grants + $11 million in loans.  Pueblo Chieftain

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gray’s Coors Tavern was crowned Pueblo’s top slopper stop on April 21 — reclaiming its title over rival Cactus Flower in the annual Slopper Tour competition. The win earns Gray’s a gold traveling chile slopper trophy and a featured spot on the 2026 tour map.  Pueblo Chieftain

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CDOT urged drivers to slow down in work zones after reports showed that reduced speed limits were ignored. The agency asked motorists to follow posted limits + protect worker safety.  KKTV

  • North Slope Recreation Area near Pikes Peak will reopen on May 1 after two years of renovations, offering new trails and improved facilities as work on Crystal Creek Reservoir continues for 14 days. Visitors pay $1 for parking but do not need a Pikes Peak entry fee.  KOAA
