- ➤ The local nonprofit CASA urgently needs volunteers to help children who have experienced abuse. The organization said that becoming a CASA is its biggest need right now— volunteers provide essential support to these vulnerable kids. KKTV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The community mourns 13-year-old Joeylin Kenly McDonald who died from a fall at an RMSER youth event on Friday, April 18—she was a dedicated Connect Charter School student involved in local pageants and soccer—and her family has launched a fundraiser for her funeral expenses. KOAA
- ➤ A crash closed the left lane of northbound I-25 at Exit 106 near Mile Point 106.5 north of Pueblo yesterday—causing delays—before emergency crews reopened the roadway. KKTV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Uber said the new Colorado rideshare bill —HB25-1291— may force it to stop operating if it becomes law because it requires rides to be recorded and adds heavy costs. The House passed the bill with a vote of 59 to 6 and it now heads to the Senate. KKTV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ High school senior Sunny Wiggins launched the Rising Stars Film Festival as her capstone project; the event held March 26th to 30th in Pueblo received 52 student film submissions and recognition from Gov. Polis and the Sundance CEO. Wiggins said the festival will continue under the Pueblo Film Fest—held at Blo Back Gallery and other local venues until April 27th—to provide ongoing opportunities for youth filmmakers.
