COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pueblo Farmers Market returns on Saturday, May 2 at Mineral Palace Park with over 50 vendors including 30 new ones who will offer Colorado produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods. The market runs every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon through October and also includes several Eastside Pop-up Markets.  Pueblo Chieftain
  • Pueblo residents can clear out large items for free at the Team Up to Clean Up event on Saturday, May 6 at the Colorado State Fairgrounds and CSU Pueblo from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., while Waste Connections offers discount days at Southside Landfill from May 4 through May 16.  Pueblo Chieftain

  • A new Chieftain video reviews Pueblo West’s history from its 1969 founding to its current role as a thriving district. The video outlines key milestones that shaped the area’s evolution into a vibrant community.  Pueblo Chieftain

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, Pueblo County School District 70 announced that Moody’s raised its issuer rating to A1 and its bond rating to Aa3 after years of careful spending, strong reserves, and surplus budgets. The upgrade follows disciplined financial planning supporting nearly 8,850 students across most of Pueblo County (excluding Pueblo city).  Pueblo Chieftain

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal lawmakers are considering the Hot Rotisserie Chicken Act to let Colorado SNAP recipients buy hot, ready-to-eat meals such as rotisserie chicken if passed. The proposal would give nearly 600,000 families a quicker option for a nutritious meal.  KOAA
  • Pueblo is seeking contractors for its free Minor Home Repair Program that helps low- to moderate-income homeowners with emergency repairs costing less than $10,000. The initiative has $250,000 in federal funding (with potential additional state support) as the city works to preserve its aging housing stock.  KOAA
