GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CDOT and Martin Marietta finished a $15.8 million resurfacing project on I-25 through Pueblo eight months later than planned after winter halted work that began in April, and officials say the improved pavement will extend the highway's life by about 10 years—providing smoother, safer driving conditions for motorists. - ➤ At the May 12 City Council meeting, the City of Pueblo defended its clear RFP process for the City Park Bath House after Friends of City Park complained about not being awarded the management agreement. City officials said the group’s proposal did not meet key rules+ it sought historic designation and shifted operation to City staff+ the decision was based solely on strict criteria. City of Pueblo
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Pueblo Public Health and Environment department introduced the Healthy Beverages for All program to address rising childhood obesity by requiring restaurants to offer healthier drink options (water, unsweetened milk, or a milk alternative) as the default with kids’ meals. The proposal—presented at Monday night’s City Council meeting—will be discussed with the Pueblo school district while still allowing parents to choose another beverage if they prefer. KKTV
