  • On Friday morning, residents in southern Pueblo County heard a loud (unexplained) boom around 10 a.m. that shook homes and left people searching for answers; officials have been contacted but have not provided an explanation.  KOAA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Manuel DeJesus Villanueva Miranda, a 53-year-old Colorado Springs resident, drowned May 14 at Lake Pueblo State Park while trying to rescue his two children and their friends from rough waters—witnesses and park staff attempted CPR for 40 minutes before he was pronounced dead.  Pueblo Chieftain

  • A Fort Carson soldier charged with federal cocaine distribution was released on Friday to a Colorado Springs halfway house — he received a $10,000 unsecured bond and must wear an ankle monitor and surrender his passport as part of his release conditions.  KKTV

  • The Colorado State Board of Education upheld Pueblo District 60’s decision not to renew Chavez Huerta Preparatory Academy's contract as the board cited issues with improper fiscal management and declining enrollment—Chavez Huerta, a 24-year institution, will see its charter expire on June 30 while the district prepares support for affected students and families.  KKTV
