- ➤ Safe Side Recovery has taken the next step in its plan to become Pueblo’s only overnight shelter’s permanent operator — the nonprofit moves forward to secure long-term management and support for those in need. KKTV
- ➤ Yesterday, the YMCA of Pueblo hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on East Spaulding Avenue for a new state-of-the-art athletic facility named for Dr. Bruno DeRose. The $649,700 project, funded by community donations, grants and partnerships, will boost youth sports and community wellness in Pueblo — a major step forward for local recreation. FOX21

- ➤ Safeway union members in Pueblo, Fountain, and Salida will vote Friday and Saturday on a potential strike after eight months of bargaining over understaffing and lower wage increases. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A man was shot and killed on May 28 at about 7:05 a.m. at the Belmont Manor Apartments on Ruppel St.—police say the shooter may have acted in self-defense after the victim reportedly threatened him with a knife. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ A new report by the Southern Poverty Law Center found 33 hate and antigovernment groups in Colorado, with 10 based in Southern Colorado places like Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Fountain—showing a rise even as the national total dropped 5% in 2024. Some local organizations said being listed is a badge of honor—while a few, including Moms for Liberty, are now challenging state policies affecting parental rights. FOX21
