- ➤ The City of Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department and Pueblo Conservancy District will host an open house on June 5 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the City Park Administration Office in the George Williams Pavilion (801 Goodnight Ave.) to gather public feedback on the Arkansas River Corridor Master Plan. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a several-hour special investigation that led to 18 traffic stops, recovering at least seven grams of meth, over 30 fentanyl pills, and two guns while arresting four individuals—two on outstanding warrants including one from New Mexico, one for a new drug charge, and one for additional charges. - ➤ Union members at Safeway stores in Pueblo, Fountain and other Colorado areas will vote on a potential strike Friday and Saturday night—if approved, a 72-hour notice will be required before a strike can occur as early as next week. KOAA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Teachers, staff and students of Chavez-Huerta Preparatory Academy marched on Thursday from the Pueblo County Courthouse to the district office to support their school after District 60 did not renew its charter. The charter agreement will expire on June 30—school leaders warn that if District 60 takes no action the school could close. KOAA

- ➤ The Pueblo West Metro District welcomed three new board members on May 27 (Pasternak, Potter, and Roberts) and approved a maintenance agreement with Pueblo County to care for the Liberty Point overlook as part of the upcoming Purcell Trail project funded by federal grants and district funds. The board also discussed spending $1.4 million from the 1-cent fire safety sales tax to upgrade Fire Station No. 1 (which needs modifications to meet code requirements). Pueblo Chieftain
