CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo police responded to a shots fired incident at Belmont Manor Apartments on Ruppel Street Wednesday morning, arriving just after 7 a.m. to find a 46 year old man with a gunshot wound who later died at a local hospital and detectives are investigating while no charges have been filed. KKTV
- ➤ Shane McSwane allegedly kidnapped a 22-year-old in Denver and forced a 28-year-old woman from Aurora into his car—reportedly robbing a gas station along the way—as he now faces attempted first-degree murder and other charges in Pueblo County Jail while set to appear in Pueblo court next week. - ➤ A traffic stop by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office led to a vehicle search that recovered two guns & drugs including fentanyl pills, meth, heroin, psilocybin mushrooms, and other narcotic-related items, with charges pending and no arrests made. KOAA

- ➤ The Goodnight Barn welcomes locals to view the unveiling of a restored 150-year-old chuckwagon today at 10 a.m. off West State Highway 96—a historic piece donated by local families to honor Pueblo’s cowboy legacy that once served as a mobile kitchen on long cattle drives. KOAA
- ➤ George Lopez will perform an 18+ one-night-only comedy show at Pueblo Memorial Hall during the Chile and Frijoles Festival on Friday, Sept 19 at 7:30 p.m.—tickets are available online. FOX21
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, Pueblo residents can drop off large trash items such as carpets, furniture, mattresses and up to five used tires per household at three locations — CSU Pueblo campus, the State Fairgrounds and a yard waste-only site at 1595 Stockyard Road from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the city limits entries to one truckload per household and excludes liquids, hazardous waste and construction debris. - ➤ On May 29, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security named Pueblo County a sanctuary jurisdiction, even though the sheriff’s office said it follows state law that does not require notifying ICE. County commissioners offered opposing views, with one saying the county is not a sanctuary and another warning it could risk federal funds. Pueblo Chieftain
