- ➤ A Pueblo homeowner said his basement flooded with black sewage after a fiber optic crew hit a sewer line, leaving eight feet of stagnant water that forced him and his wife to live in a hotel while repair costs of $27,000 may not be fully covered by insurance — he is considering legal options if the companies do not reimburse him. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Union members at Safeway stores in Pueblo, Fountain, and other areas of Colorado voted to authorize a strike as they protested over understaffing, wages, healthcare and pensions. The union must give a 72-hour notice before any work stoppage—no strike date has yet been set. KOAA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo D60 is offering free breakfast and lunch to children 18 and under this summer at 19 school sites and 3 community locations. The program runs from June 11 to June 26 at schools and from June 9 to July 31 at community sites—participants must eat on site and show a valid ID. Pueblo Chieftain

- ➤ The Colorado DMV and Pueblo County law enforcement warned residents that fake texts claiming unpaid tickets and penalties are scams — they advised not to click on any links or share personal information. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ State Senator Nick Hinrichsen announced on June 5 that he will not seek re-election to spend more time with his family as his son begins college this fall — he said his three and a half years serving SD-3 made him proud and he will stay involved in state issues. FOX21
