CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested 52-year-old Armando Carbajal at Runyon Field Sports Complex on June 8 on suspicion of second-degree assault and felony menacing after a fight at a youth softball game left one man seriously injured and another with minor injuries—authorities are still searching for a second suspect who fled and the field remains closed for investigation.  Pueblo Chieftain
  • On Sunday, deputies arrested 52-year-old Phillip J. Martinez for burglary after a Pueblo West homeowner said security cameras captured him loading items from a home on Blackstone Drive; Martinez said he was hired to move items, but the homeowner denied hiring him.  KKTV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Colorado seasonal produce such as Palisade peaches, Olathe sweet corn, Rocky Ford melons and Pueblo green chilis will be available from early July through early August; vegetables like kale and fruits like strawberries are already in season based on the Colorado Department of Agriculture produce calendar + King Soopers estimates. Local shoppers can expect delays for their favorite summer items as growers ramp up production.  FOX21

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A special election on the Karman Line Annexation will take place in one week as officials prepare for changes in local governance. Earlier today, a Colorado Senate leader resigned while law enforcement reported that a fight at a sports complex on Sunday led to one arrest, a stabbing in Old Colorado City on Monday sent one person to the hospital, and a stolen vehicle chase in Douglas County ended in an arrest.  KKTV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Lake Pueblo State Park is adding new safety features—such as life jacket loaner stations and an ADA-accessible kayak dock at Kestrel Pond—to help visitors enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, and camping over its 4,600 acres of water and nearly 10,000 acres of land. The park opens daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. with entry fees of $10 per vehicle and $4 per person, and campers must reserve their sites in advance.  Pueblo Chieftain
