Colorado-raised entrepreneur and equestrian Mathena Washington becomes the first woman from the state to run for Miss Black Rodeo USA 2027 pageant, which promotes Black youth access to rodeos and horsemanship, while she launches the High Plains Legacy Riders Foundation to support inner-city kids learning these skills.

After a battery relay malfunction caused a cockpit fire on June 16 during wildfire operations, a Bell 205 helicopter was quickly repaired and is now fighting the KO Fire in Fremont County, with no injuries reported (fleet safety inspections have been completed).
