- ➤ Colorado State University Pueblo will revive its Let Freedom Howl celebration, a free family-friendly event with music, food trucks and fireworks that starts at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 4—event organizers say the tradition returns after nearly two decades of pause. FOX21

- ➤ Colorado Parks and Wildlife is investigating a report of a possible drowning from Thursday night at Lake Pueblo State Park — boat patrol teams used sonar at South Fishing Beach and the Marine Evidence Recovery Team is bringing an underwater drone to aid in the search. KKTV
- ➤ A rescue operation was underway at Lake Pueblo State Park Thursday night after a possible drowning was reported; Colorado Parks and Wildlife crews conducted a grid search with sonar— the CPW Marine Evidence Recovery Team arrived with an underwater drone and extra sonar— and officials said the search would continue as long as needed. - ➤ City leaders and developers report a visible building boom along Pueblo Boulevard and western Pueblo as construction crews work on new homes and public projects, with data from May showing rising GDP, home sales and tourism spending. However, officials note that 3,500 local jobs remain unfilled—highlighting a challenge in workforce development. KOAA

- ➤ Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed House Bill 25-1149 earlier this month to require statewide Black history education standards in K-12 public schools. The law directs the state board to adopt comprehensive standards and form an advisory committee (covering subjects like politics and engineering) so that students learn about Black American contributions. - ➤ Colorado Parks and Wildlife is inviting bids to remove the aging North Shore Marina at Lake Pueblo as part of plans to build a modern facility — the marina will remain open for boating until October 31.
