CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Deputies responded at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday near Loaf 'N Jug when a suspect vehicle struck a patrol car and the officers fired shots — the 10th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team is investigating — with the suspect driver and a passenger taken to local hospitals while a deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries. - ➤ Pueblo police are searching for a suspect in connection with a jewelry theft on May 27 at 4:18 p.m.—officials say anyone with details should contact authorities. KKTV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Organizers of El Mariachi Vicla announced the name Tava City to honor indigenous history as part of the event, a move that underlines native traditions and community heritage. KKTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo County commissioners voted 2-1 to end the Pueblo Regional Building Department effective Dec. 31, and county staff will work with the department to return books, records and assets. The resolution followed public input sessions and will be discussed further in upcoming work sessions. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ Pueblo West officials are reviewing 5 possible sites for a new indoor pool after the outdoor pool closed this summer due to a water line failure, and they plan to fund the project with up to $7 million & additional revenue pending cost reviews of road and utility improvements. The board also approved $203,500 to repair the Coyote Trail after sewage spilled from a power surge, addressing safety concerns in the area. Pueblo Chieftain
