Atlas Holdings— a private-equity firm based in Greenwich, Connecticut— announced plans Friday to buy EVRAZ North America, which includes Pueblo’s steel mill, in a deal valued at up to $500 million; the sale will close in the second half of this year.

Local officials say the move is expected to support jobs and strengthen Pueblo’s economy.
