Firefighters defended homes from the Aspen Acres Fire that surged on July 7 near Siloam Road (rain helped slow the blaze) and mopped up hotspots by July 8.
The blaze burned 96,031 acres and was 15% contained as of yesterday.
Firefighters quickly controlled an apartment fire Tuesday evening and rescued a cat exposed to smoke; the animal received oxygen (and water) before it was returned to its owners.
The CBI is searching for 82-year-old Priscilla Leese (red Toyota driver) who went missing near North Elizabeth Street and Eagleridge Boulevard on July 2; her vehicle was later seen near Pueblo, and authorities urge anyone with tips to call 911 or contact the county sheriff’s office.
