COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On July 11th, the Pueblo Country Club hosted the Hope Fore Survivors Charity Golf Tournament, drawing nearly 140 players to complete 18 holes and raise funds for the Becky Baker Foundation—whose Survivors Resource Center in the Pueblo Mall gives free items to those affected by breast cancer.  FOX21

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office identified Adrian Gallegos, 25, of Pueblo and Jeremiah Corbett, 23, of Pueblo West as the two victims of a single-vehicle rollover wreck in Pueblo West on July 10 — investigators are checking if excessive speed and intoxication contributed to the crash.  Pueblo Chieftain

CRIME NEWS

  • Police shot 54-year-old John Michael Jesse on July 8 during a domestic dispute on Glen Royal Drive, and the 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team—led by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation—is investigating the incident with no officers injured.  KOAA
  • On July 8, Pueblo police shot a 54-year-old man after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers during a domestic disturbance call on the 0-100 block of Glen Royal Drive, with the county coroner confirming his identity (John Michael Jesse) in a July 11 release and noting no one was hurt (officers or civilians).  Pueblo Chieftain
  • Early Thursday morning, Pueblo Police ended a tense standoff on Pine Street after hours of talks when Ernesto Alarcon, who had kidnapped a victim and set his house ablaze, emerged with a high powered AR style rifle and a shotgun and was arrested after officers used less lethal options—ending the crisis without any shots fired.  KOAA
  • A Pueblo man, Ernesto Alarcon (55), was arrested on July 10 and now faces charges of kidnapping, arson, and menacing after police allege he kidnapped a victim at gunpoint, barricaded himself in a residence, poured gasoline on the porch and set the home ablaze before exiting with a rifle and shotgun, prompting officers to use less-lethal options to end the standoff.  Pueblo Chieftain
  • On Friday the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office asked the community to help identify two people allegedly involved in an assault—officials did not provide additional details.  KKTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pueblo Police Department has upgraded its Real Time Crime Center by relocating a mobile camera trailer to the Bessemer area, adding shotspotter, and launching its first Drone as First Responder station to deliver video evidence before officers arrive. The department will install additional cameras at five parks and City Hall and will host a Community Connect Meeting on July 16 from 4—7 p.m. to help local businesses link their surveillance systems.  KKTV
  • Pueblo Police Department is upgrading its Real Time Crime Center—adding drones—to improve law enforcement response and investigation efforts. The new technology will help the department track cases more efficiently.  KKTV
