🏘️ Community
A modified fair will take place this year as the fairgrounds shelter animals from the Aspen Acres Fire, limiting the event to 4-H, FFA, and Open Class participants.
Entry drop-off will occur Sunday, July 19 (9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) at the Southwest Events Center.
🌲 Environment
San Isabel Electric reported 880 outages from the Aspen Acres Fire affecting meters in Pueblo and nearby counties on Monday.
Restoration times will range from days to months as officials work to repair main lines and isolated meters.
🏛️ Government
On Sunday, the Front Range Passenger Rail District unveiled the new name and logo for its Colorado Connector rail service that will link Pueblo, Denver, Fort Collins and other communities using existing freight lines.
The first phase will begin service in 2029 and full service is planned for 2032 pending voter approval.
🏥 Health
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported 150 cyclosporiasis cases as of July 12 with 38 cases since July 1; most cases are not domestically acquired.
Officials advise citizens to follow basic food safety practices (such as washing fresh produce) to help reduce the risk of infection.
