- ➤ Pueblo will host its inaugural Steel City Arkansas River Festival on Saturday, July 26, with events starting at 10 a.m. at venues such as the Nature Wildlife Discovery Center, WaterWorks Park, and the kayak course near Pillars Park — registration is required for several events. The festival will feature competitions like a Build Your Own Boat Race and a Freestyle River Surf Competition, plus a paddle and bike parade, a rubber duck race, and a Trailgate with live music and food trucks — the event will run until 7 p.m. FOX21
- ➤ Southern Colorado astronaut Nichole Ayers—who piloted SpaceX’s Crew 10 mission in March—has been on the International Space Station and continues her duties in space. KKTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Pueblo Stormwater Department will begin emergency repair work on Wednesday that will close Elizabeth Street between 25th and 23rd for southbound traffic and restrict eastbound travel at Elizabeth and 24th. Phase two will close the block of 24th Street between West and Elizabeth on July 31 to complete repairs in two weeks. KKTV
- ➤ Mayor Heather Graham proposed raising Pueblo's sales and use tax by 1% to generate about $26 million per year for city programs — and a ballot initiative to change the half-cent sales tax criteria aimed at attracting new economic projects will be on the November 4 ballot if approved by council.
