🏘️ Community
Two Pueblo businesses, 1129 Spirits and Eatery & Print Pros, offer free yard signs to honor first responders, evacuees & volunteers affected by the Aspen Acres Fire nearly a month ago.
Residents can pick up the signs at the restaurant.
El Pomar Foundation activated multiple relief funds for wildfire response, providing $215,000 in grants and $1 million statewide for urgent needs such as food, housing and mental health services.
Pueblo YMCA President Janelle Andrews said the funding supports displaced families, animals and first responders.
Local residents can join the Early Bird Hike and Bike—an event held monthly this summer that carries on the park’s longstanding Motorless Morning tradition.

Plaza Verde Park in east Pueblo is nominated for the National Register of Historic Places and honors Las Madres de la Casa Verde (a tribute to Chicano muralism).
🎓 Education
Educators, students and community members gathered at Pueblo County High School on July 29 to support Proposition NN, a measure that will retain surplus funds for K-12 improvements such as increased teacher pay, smaller class sizes and expanded technical education (local advocates say).
St. Therese Catholic School, Pueblo’s only diocese-run school, will close after 26 years because of fewer students, limited funds, and changes in state funding — according to Bishop Stephen Berg.
The school will not enroll new students for the coming 2026-2027 school year.

Flooding damaged areas in Beulah yesterday, and local officials are assessing impacts on homes and roads (updates are expected later).
🏥 Health
AMR warns that as school starts during one of the hottest weeks, students and families in Pueblo should stay hydrated and take breaks — an essential step to reduce the risk of heat exhaustion.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported more than 250 Salmonella instances this month compared to a five-year average of 125 and is investigating the cause; residents experiencing symptoms like fever or stomach cramps are urged to seek medical care.
