Riverfest will be held on Aug.
15 at the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk, where extreme sports athletes will perform freestyle motocross, BMX stunts and parkour (headlined by champion Keith Wineland) with 40 food and drink vendors available. The free event runs from 1 to 9 p.m.
Family Worship Center will host a benefit concert on Aug.
21 at 6 p.m. with Ryan Stevenson to raise money for Aspen Acres Fire victims — the event offers the community a chance to come together and support those affected.
🎓 Education
Pueblo schools will reopen later this month as D70 begins classes on Aug.
10-11, D60 & PCC resume on Aug. 17-18, and CSU Pueblo starts on Aug. 24.
St. John Neumann Catholic School will mark its 50th anniversary with a community reunion at CSU Pueblo's Occhiato Student Center on Nov.
13 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The school has educated over 3,800 students (including a NASA scientist) and is now Pueblo's only Catholic school after St. Therese closed.
🏛️ Government
Yesterday, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office worked with the USDA to offer free flood risk evaluations as part of an emergency watershed program.
The evaluations address flash floods and damage from the Aspen Acres Fire and may lead to steps like erosion control & improved drainage.
