- ➤ The 153rd annual Colorado State Fair will run from August 22 to September 1 with new exhibits and events that focus on farming and learning (including Agventure Ag-tivity Land, a Sensory Day on Sept. 1, and a special rodeo for children at 9:30 a.m. on August 25). CRIME NEWS
- ➤ One person died following a shooting on Wednesday, Aug. 6 when Pueblo Police responded to gunfire on the 200 block of West Mesa Avenue near Elm Street—officers found seven shell casings and a man with a gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at a hospital while detectives and a nearby Real Time Crime Center camera assisted the investigation. - ➤ Pueblo children are going back to school next week while a new Colorado law requires drivers to stop for school buses with flashing red lights unless a physical barrier separates the lanes — motorists must stop at least 20 feet away and remain stopped until the lights turn off. Local police and the Colorado State Patrol stress that drivers slow down and stay alert in school zones to keep kids safe as classes start on Aug. 11 for School District 70 and Aug. 19 for School District 60.
