On July 31, 2025, at about 2:20 p.m., Pueblo Police responded to an armed robbery at a credit union on South Prairie Ave where a man demanded cash from a teller before fleeing in a white over black Buick Century, and officers later tracked his vehicle near North Elizabeth Street, arrested the 45 y/o suspect J.E. Wroten after he attempted to escape, and booked him with a $15,000 bond.
A suspect was arrested after an armed robbery occurred at a credit union on the south side of Pueblo on July 31 when officers tracked a white Buick to Drew Dix Parkway—he is now held on a $15,000 bond.
CDOT released a survey by Corona Insights that showed more than 33% of drivers said they regularly speed and nearly half admitted to using a phone while driving after the new hands-free law took effect, with almost 90% of those users aware of the law.
The survey also found that younger drivers are almost twice as likely to text or drive under the influence of cannabis compared to older drivers—highlighting ongoing challenges in driver safety.
Colorado State Patrol said it investigated over 4,000 crashes by drivers aged 16 to 21 in 2024 and reminded drivers of Colorado's seat belt laws; adults not buckling up face a $65 fine.
Teens risk an automatic court summons and points on their licenses and drivers can be ticketed for not securing children & Pueblo County is among the areas with low seat belt use.
Nathan Harper, a former Roots Recycling owner now with Design for Recycle, is running for one of two open at-large seats on Pueblo City Council in 2025—he plans to boost social services for the unhoused, support education and after-school programs, and address systemic crime issues.
Today, Pueblo welcomes the Pueblo Punishers, a new pro-arena football team in the National Arena League made up of ex-NFL and college players who will compete at the Events Center at the Colorado State Fair—tickets will be available in October.
Owner and CEO Lisa Rohrich, the league’s first female owner, said she chose Pueblo for its strong football tradition and solid community support.
