On Saturday, Aug 9, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s wildland fire team quickly put out around ten brush fires along a seven-mile stretch of Highway 96 near mile marker 41 – sparks from a broken trailer wheel ignited dry brush – and no buildings were at risk.

The Perseid meteor shower will peak Aug.

12-13 and stargazers in Pueblo can expect up to 100 meteors per hour after midnight — although wildfire smoke and bright moonlight may limit visibility.
