Good morning, Pueblo. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 19th of August.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pueblo Zoo officials said yesterday that the zoo is facing a budget shortfall which could lead to closure in three to four years if funding drops — the zoo may lose accreditation next cycle, and the city will put a sales tax increase on the November ballot to help cover the deficit.  KOAA
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 20, the City of Pueblo will join about 50 volunteers from the Corporate Cup teams in the Togetherhood Project to paint two income-qualifying homes in Bessemer and Eastside, as part of a partnership with the YMCA, Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority and Baha Construction. The project will preserve aging housing—backed by in-kind donations from Lowe’s and The Home Depot—and support families in need.  City of Pueblo
