  • A Pueblo man rescued a child from drowning at the Pueblo Reservoir on Aug. 15th—video evidence shows his quick actions likely saved the child from serious harm.  KKTV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Black Hills Energy announced it will merge with NorthWestern Energy to form a new utility provider serving Pueblo residents and customers in 8 western states, with the merger expected to finish in 12—15 months. The deal will split shareholder ownership 56—44 as the companies aim to boost efficiency while local rate changes remain uncertain.  KOAA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, Pueblo School District 60 opened new career-based programs and labs in three schools to give students hands-on training— the STREAM program creates mentorship pathways.  KKTV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fall begins on Sept. 1 meteorologically and Sept. 22 astronomically. Forecasters say Pueblo will remain warm and dry with temperatures dipping into the 70s by mid-September — although highs may still reach the 90s.  Pueblo Chieftain

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Pueblo and the Pueblo Fire Department will open Fire Station No. 11 at 3205 West 24th Street near Pueblo Motorsports Park on Friday, Aug. 22. The new station will feature training facilities, updated equipment and net‑zero efficiency—designed to serve a growing west side and improve call times—and will host a grand opening at 3 p.m. followed by a public open house at 4 p.m.  FOX21
