- ➤ State lawmakers returned to the Capitol last Thursday for a special session—aimed at closing a $783 million budget gap caused by federal tax changes. They plan to use rainy-day funds, cut spending, and end corporate tax breaks as the session is expected to continue into early next week. KOAA
