- ➤ CBI confirmed that more than 20 bodies were found in a non-climate-controlled room at Davis Mortuary in Pueblo and have now been respectfully removed on Aug. 25 — investigators said identifying the remains using dental X-rays, fingerprints, and DNA will take months — while the investigation into the mortuary’s operations and its owners continues. - ➤ Country musician Cooper Alan performed at the Colorado State Fair on August 22 in Pueblo and received a proclamation from local officials—marking his song 'Never Not Remember You' as a tribute to Arianne Lane, who fought a rare cancer for 25 years and inspired a foundation that funds college scholarships. - ➤ Pueblo City Council overruled Mayor Heather Graham’s veto on Monday to allow a ballot question asking if the city should switch back to a city manager form of government—if voters pass it in November, the council will appoint a city manager. KOAA
- ➤ On Monday, Pueblo City Council approved a ballot question to reconsider the city manager form of government by a vote of 6 to 1 that overturned Mayor Heather Graham’s veto. If approved on November 4, Pueblo will eliminate the mayor’s office and select a city manager chosen by the council. KKTV
- ➤ Pueblo County Clerk Candace Rivera explained the recall process for County Coroner Brian Cotter after inspectors uncovered about 20 decomposing bodies in a hidden room at Davis Mortuary—local officials and Gov. Polis had called for his resignation, and petitioners will need 16,431 signatures to trigger a recall election. The process is now underway as part of the ongoing criminal investigation.
