Good morning, Pueblo. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 2nd of September.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Autism Society of Colorado and Pueblo Pediatric Therapy Center hosted Sensory Day at the Colorado State Fair on Labor Day to give children a calm space free of flashing lights, noise and announcements — letting them enjoy fun and educational activities. The fair held the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and announced that next year's fair will run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 7.  FOX21
  • Pueblo Chiles were in peak harvest as skilled crews hand-picked peppers to meet market standards—moderate summer weather yielded a milder flavor than last year's extreme heat and dryness.  FOX21

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Colorado State Fair in Pueblo offered sunny fun on August 31 with rides, carnival games, and live shows drawing large crowds. Visitors enjoyed attractions — such as Vertigo, Spin Out, and a Ferris wheel—while savoring local food and festive activities.  Pueblo Chieftain

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Amanda Weidner from the Pueblo County CSU Extension Office explained that many local trees are turning yellow from iron chlorosis—an effect of high lime levels in our soil that makes iron hard for trees to absorb and can lead to other nutrient shortages. Homeowners are urged to test their soil and choose tree species that suit our natural conditions.  Pueblo Chieftain

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Board of County Commissioners will discuss whether to approve coroner Brian Cotter's resignation at their next meeting. No further details have been provided on the decision.  KKTV
