- ➤ Drive Smart Pueblo, working with local law enforcement and fire services, will offer free child car seat checks on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the new Pueblo Fire Station — 3205 W 24th Street — where certified technicians will show caregivers how to properly install seats for safety. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Pueblo man, 21-year-old Alehandro Chacon, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder for a fatal shooting that occurred on Aug. 14 near Canal and Spruce streets—he is held on a bond of over $1 million with his first court appearance set for Sept. 11. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ Two Pueblo attorneys held a public forum on Sept. 3 to help families affected by Davis Mortuary's mishandling of remains during a criminal investigation by the CBI and FBI—attendees were urged to seek legal help before civil action deadlines pass. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said a Fremont County Sheriff's Office deputy shot 27-year-old Ethan Pollington during a welfare check in Cañon City last Friday at 6:00 p.m.—Pollington, who opened the door while reportedly drunk and pointing a gun, was injured in the arm and leg, later released from the hospital, faces multiple charges, and a bomb squad safely removed inactive explosive devices from his home.
