COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Pueblo Fire Department and the Center for American Values will host the Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony—Never Forget at the World Trade Center Memorial Site on the Pueblo Riverwalk at 101 South Main Street on Sept. 11th. The ceremony will honor nearly 3000 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 with a Walk in Silence and a Memorial Stair Climb by the Pueblo Community College Fire Science Club. FOX21
- ➤ On Sept. 4, Chaffee County Search And Rescue North rescued a tired dog with painful paws from a rough hiking trail on Mount Princeton — the team treated the dog's injured paws and safely lowered it by 6:15 p.m., marking the sixth pet rescue from the mountain this year. FOX21
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ In 2024, Colorado roads claimed 165 motorcyclists with 33 fatalities in September alone—CDOT and the State Patrol urged riders and drivers to wear helmets and follow speed limits to help prevent more deaths. KKTV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Former Pueblo Fire Department union leader Douglas Martin was found guilty of embezzlement and will serve 60 days in jail — he is also required to repay over $100,000 in restitution. KKTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter’s Davis Mortuary did business with the county until January 2015, when he took office. Later, the mortuary received contracts from the state's Department of Corrections even after its crematory license expired in November 2024 — raising questions about a conflict of interest. KOAA
