ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities in Conejos County are searching for hunters Andrew Porter and Ian Stasko who did not check in on Sept. 13 from their elk hunting trip in the San Juan Wilderness near Trujillo Meadows Reservoir—rescue teams and local volunteers are working in heavy rain and fog.  KOAA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Adverse weather led to a 13% drop in attendance at the 2025 Colorado State Fair compared to last year, even though guest spending stayed steady with Fiesta Day drawing 63,472 visitors and Labor Day recording a 5% rise. Organizers said the 2026 fair will run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 7 and will celebrate 150 years of statehood along with 250 years of national history—aiming to build on strong community engagement.  Pueblo Chieftain

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Today, the EPA-mandated winter-blend fuel hit pumps in Pueblo, showing potential savings of 10—15 cents per gallon as stations work through their remaining summer blend while local prices stand at $3.11. The new fuel is cheaper to produce and helps engines start better in the cold, though full price drops may take time.  KOAA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kathy DeNiro—who served as a teacher, principal and administrator—is running for reelection to the Pueblo School District 60 Board to focus on school safety, student engagement and academics as the district works on rightsizing due to declining enrollment and funding issues.   • On Tuesday, Pueblo County Commissioners named Dr. Gregory Grahek as the finalist for the coroner position after former coroner Brian Cotter resigned following the discovery of decomposing remains at Davis Mortuary—Grahek must now accept the appointment, complete fingerprinting, and wait for a formal resolution before being sworn in.  KOAA
  • Pueblo County commissioners have selected Gregory Grahek as the next county coroner amid a mortuary investigation—he promised to ensure transparency in his new role.  KKTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • At a special session on Tuesday, the CHSAA Legislative Council voted fifty-two to twenty-two with one abstention to pass ADM-3, a rule that adds a 1.5 multiplier for enrollment of qualified private school athletic programs—changing the classification process for Colorado high schools. The Council will use updated data to set splits for the 2026-28 cycle following a two-year review.  KKTV
