GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo Police Chief Chris Noeller on Monday proposed an ordinance to set aside $200,000 from the SMART program to help officers with childcare costs as the department struggles to fill vacant positions—more than 40 openings have been unstaffed for over a year. The measure was presented at the City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. and will undergo further review to address recruitment and retention challenges. KKTV
- ➤ Pueblo Police Department plans to use grant money to assist a working family with childcare expenses—officials said the program will help ease the family's financial burden. KKTV
- ➤ Local business owner Evans Auden Gonzalez Garcia is running for an at-large seat on Pueblo City Council and owns Super Market Gonzalez on East 4th Street.
