- ➤ Skate City Pueblo will offer free skating lessons on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.—a way to celebrate National Roller Skating Month, and it will also host a Taylor Swift night on Oct. 3 for her new album release. FOX21
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A Colorado State University Pueblo study finds that 28 nonprofits generate $3.2 billion in economic output—supporting 28,000 jobs and volunteer work. The report shows that Pueblo Zoo adds a $20 million annual impact—meaning every dollar invested returns $37 in benefits. KOAA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Non-profit aid groups in the Pikes Peak region are watching the Washington impasse because a government shutdown could lead to more people needing help — Catholic Charities is asking the community for food donations while checking its supplies. KOAA
- ➤ The City of Pueblo notified the Pueblo Economic Development Corporation on Sept 29 that its contract will end on December 31 while city officials prepare to issue a request for qualifications for new economic development partners—Mayor Heather Graham stated the move follows a 5-2 City Council vote. - ➤ On Sept 29, the City of Pueblo gave notice to end its contract with the Pueblo Economic Development Corporation effective Dec 31 to allow for a transition per the 90-day notice requirement — the city will soon issue a Request for Qualifications to select a new economic development partner. Mayor Heather Graham said this move aims to boost economic growth while PEDCO finishes its work on the half-cent sales and use tax. City of Pueblo
- ➤ Councilor Regina Maestri—who has served in District 1 since 2022—is running for an at-large seat in November 2025 and vows to pursue fiscal responsibility, public safety, and transparency across Pueblo. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ Pueblo County Commissioner Miles Lucero was censured on Sept 30th by the board for allegedly breaking confidentiality during executive sessions—he defended his record and said he would continue to represent the people openly. FOX21
- ➤ Councilor Regina Maestri’s restraining order against candidate Elvis Martinez remains in effect until May 25, 2026—forcing him to keep a safe distance from her and her home as he continues his campaign.
