- ➤ The Patrick Lucero Library reopened on Wednesday after a year-long renovation that cost over $4 million and added updated technology, a larger community room, and improved security for a safe space for students and families. It is on East Seventh Street and Monument Avenue near Risley Middle School — a key resource for the Pueblo community. KOAA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Sept. 30, candidates for the district board, water board, and City Council gathered at Pueblo Community College to debate ballot issue 2C and share their visions—photos from the event show local leaders discussing education and city priorities. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ All hunting on Fort Carson and the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site is suspended due to the federal government shutdown—Colorado Parks and Wildlife will offer refunds and restore preference points for the Pronghorn season beginning Oct 4 when hunters return their licenses in person or mail the refund application. Additional big game seasons may be considered depending on the shutdown’s length. FOX21
- ➤ On Sept. 30, Mayor Heather Graham and Councilor Dennis Flores debated Ballot Question 2C at Pueblo Community College, with Graham defending the strong mayor system and Flores arguing for a return to a city manager-led government. Voters will decide on Nov. 4, and if the measure passes, Pueblo will no longer have a mayor + the government form will change. Pueblo Chieftain
