COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Pueblo Zoo welcomed a second baby De Brazza’s monkey from Ruby in October — a rare event that shows the monkey troop is healthy. Father Kanoa watches over the group while big sister Delilah grows curious about her new sibling.  FOX21

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Widefield School District 3 is partnering with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity and Careers in Construction Colorado to build 41 homes in Security—Widefield so staff can buy affordable housing. At least 14 of the houses are reserved for district employees, with construction starting in July and the first homes available in 2027.  KOAA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fall brings strong winds to Southern Colorado as warm air and cold air create big pressure differences — warm air rises while cold air pushes in and the jet stream dips south. These natural changes make the autumn days gusty and noticeable.  FOX21

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday was Cabrini Day—Colorado celebrated the state holiday honoring Mother Cabrini who spent time at Saint Scholastica School in Cañon City in the early 1900s. Government offices, courts, probation offices, and the DMV were closed for the holiday.  KOAA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kroger recalled its Basil Pesto Bowtie Salads and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salads from 1,860 stores including those in Pueblo after a supplier said the pasta might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes — customers are urged to throw away the products or return them for a refund.  FOX21
