- ➤ Pueblo’s free Team Up to Clean Up event will be held on Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Colorado State University Pueblo, Colorado State Fairgrounds, and Pueblo RecycleWorks at 1595 Stockyard Road—allowing residents to dispose of furniture, mattresses, and yard waste. Residents must bring valid ID and follow rules—no oversized trucks, electronics, hazardous materials, or construction items are accepted. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ On Oct. 1, the City of Pueblo proclaimed Kevin the Fire Pup Day to honor Kevin from Station 3—who comforts local children and firefighters. On Oct. 13, the Patriot PAWS Service Dog team sent him treats to celebrate his dedicated service. FOX21

- ➤ Carmen Olivas has helped 900 families in District 60 this year by translating school documents and guiding Spanish-speaking parents through meetings and school transfers. She has bridged communication gaps and was honored with a Community Service Award from the Mariposa Center for Safety. KOAA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The State of Colorado is sending notices to more than 20,000 taxpayers who may be eligible for refunds from an $8 million fund, and the campaign will run through June 30, 2026 — the notices include instructions for filing an amended return online in under 10 minutes. FOX21
- ➤ Today, the Colorado State Patrol released 2024 data showing 219 pedestrian-involved crashes in Colorado, a 25% increase over 2023, with 31 citations for failing to yield at crosswalks (the highest recorded) and a significant rise in pedestrian citations since 2021. The report said most crashes occurred on neighborhood streets or rural roads (with higher numbers on Monday and Thursday) and urged pedestrians and cyclists to stay alert when crossing. FOX21
