COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hundreds gathered at the Pueblo County Courthouse for the 'No Kings' protest (a video captured the turnout) as local residents voiced their concerns.  Pueblo Chieftain

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pueblo Transit is partnering with Pueblo Community College so students can ride buses for free when they show a valid PCC ID. The three-year initiative will be funded by a federal grant and a $50,000 annual contribution from PCC—this program aims to remove transportation barriers for students.  Pueblo Chieftain

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Red Flag Warning fire conditions have returned to Southern Colorado this fall as windy weather and dry fuels raise wildfire risks. Lieutenant Michael Evers of the Colorado Springs Fire Department said active jet streams and cold fronts can bring gusty winds — urging people to stay alert.  KOAA
  • Many areas in southern Colorado experienced their first freeze this past weekend and experts say homeowners should winterize their sprinkler systems to avoid damage. Shane Gifford from Yard Crafters said people should finish blowing out their systems by the end of October — if a professional service cannot arrive in time, residents can cover the back flow device with a blanket, an old coat and a trash bag.  KKTV

  • Pueblo City Council unanimously approved a resolution on Oct. 14 inviting Texas-based Buc-ee's to open a travel center in Pueblo and identified two potential sites near Dillon Dr. and by an incoming QuikTrip location—citing available land and a business-friendly process amid local opposition in Palmer Lake.  Pueblo Chieftain
