  • Sean Stouffis from Arbor One Tree Service rescued Tonya Towles' cat Loki from a 35-foot tree early this week + he responded quickly to a Facebook call for help and safely returned the cat home.  KOAA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fountain's King Soopers on Sawcut Place is giving away 150 Mega Millions tickets to shoppers for today's lottery drawing; the $754 million jackpot funds Colorado parks, trails and open spaces. The store is near the Highway 85/87 and Mesa Ridge Parkway interchange—offering a local chance for a big win this Halloween.  KOAA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Cleanup crews from Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment and Pueblo County Public Works removed tons of illegally dumped trash near Piñon Bridge on Oct. 29, and the cleanup is estimated to take 30—40 hours; officials warn that illegal dumping near a waterway can cost up to $10,000 per infraction.  Pueblo Chieftain

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Pueblo Transit is offering free rides to SNAP recipients — riders must show a valid EBT card — to help people reach food resources amid the federal shutdown beginning Nov. 1, with the service running for the remainder of the shutdown. The measure comes as part of efforts to ease transportation barriers during this period of uncertainty.  City of Pueblo
  • As the government shutdown continues, southern Colorado utilities are offering options to help customers pay their bills. Colorado Springs Utilities, Fountain Utilities, Black Hills Energy and Xcel Energy have programs like LEAP starting November 1 by calling 211+ they also provide rebates, energy-saving tips and emergency support.  KKTV
  • CDOT crews will demolish the U.S. Highway 50 bridge over I-25 in Pueblo, which will cause overnight closures and detours from November 7 to 9. The work—part of a $114 million interchange project—will replace the bridge with two smaller structures to improve freeway access.  Pueblo Chieftain
