The Pueblo West Metro District Board of Directors chose the location for an indoor pool near East McCulloch Boulevard and East Assembly Drive north of Walmart, advancing a design that includes a six lane pool and diving board — construction is set to be complete by mid 2027 with a budget of over $6 million.
On Tuesday, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region raised funds for caring for neglected, homeless and injured animals during Giving Tuesday with matched donations from Fetch Pet Insurance and an anonymous donor.
The donations helped treat animals at its Pueblo and Colorado Springs locations — including a puppy named Dasher who needed urgent care for a serious illness.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife reported that bear conflicts statewide reached 5,256 reports from January 1 to December 1, marking the highest count since 2019 (when there were 5,392 reports).
Officials advise residents to secure food sources to reduce the chances of further encounters.
Frontier Pathways has been designated Colorado's 20th Electric Byway—its updated route now features new charging stations for electric vehicles, making it easier for eco-conscious drivers to enjoy scenic mountain views and historic communities.
Donielle Kitzman from the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and Visit Pueblo said the upgrade supports the region’s climate goals and boosts local tourism.
