- ➤ Pueblo police arrested 18-year-old David Michael Lucero in connection with a deadly shooting that left 31-year-old Ian Martinez dead after he was shot on July 28 at 9:08 a.m. on East Arroyo Drive—Lucero is now held on a cash-only bond of $3,000,000. KKTV
- ➤ Property crime in Pueblo fell nearly 10% from January to July compared to the same period last year—robberies dropped 46% while vandalism increased 7%, and other categories also showed declines as police initiatives like the BATTLE program took effect. Pueblo Chieftain

- ➤ The Pueblo Zoo may close in three to four years if continued city budget cuts drive down funding—from $1,063,000 in 2024 to a proposed $767,655 in 2026—and lead to loss of accreditation by 2028. Zoo Director Abbie Krause said low pay and staff shortages make it hard to maintain animal care and requested an extra $944,000 (to help stabilize operations) while council members expressed strong support for saving the zoo. - ➤ AMR Ambulances in Pueblo will soon start carrying whole blood in a new program with UCHealth Parkview—this will allow paramedics to give lifesaving help to patients before they reach the hospital. The program, which follows similar plans in Colorado Springs, Loveland, and Teller County, was launched with a $55,000 donation and will be tested next week on a supervisory rig. KOAA
